Brett is out of town on business in Chicago. Of course when he is away it is open season at the computer and I have spent 90% of my free time sitting and scrapping! In fact, my bum is getting a bit sore! NO LIE!!!

Here are some of my creations. This first one is created especially for Jacob's memory book. I think this kid has the most pages in his book because I went digital right after he was born and I have volumes of layouts. I love that I can print them for his memory book and put one in our family album also. Digital is so cool that way!!!

I am looking at my blog today and cannot believe that I haven't posted anything NEW for months! How does that happen? March 3rd was my last post and it is already August! WHAT?!!!

Today there is a new free template and challenge posted at the Shabby Shoppe Blog. This is the layout that I created for that post. As I was working on this layout, my sweet Breanna and our dog Zoey were laying at my feet (no lie) cuddled up together. I was working in Photoshop recoloring her shirt (which I am really not that happy with) when she said - "Mom, I look like a bobblehead!" Hilarious. I looked closer and she did - LOL!!! But, I ran out of time and was unable to work any more on the recoloring - ah well - Bobbleheads ROCK!

And Breanna, you are an awesome bobblehead!

Journaling - My dearest Breanna, you are seven years old now. You are much more stubborn and always wanting your own way. In many ways you remind me of myself at your age. I remember my second grade teacher, Mr Pugh, always telling me to have a better attitude. I laugh when those same words come out of my mouth in the mornings as I am helping you get ready . You still enjoy snuggling with Mom, which makes those difficult mornings worth it! Despite your attitude problem. you are still my baby, my youngest, and my sweetie pie.

First Bike Ride of the Year!

This weekend was so fun! The weather was a little warmer so Brett, Garrett and I decided to go for a bike ride to the elk farm. I was excited because I had new bike shoes and Garrett bought and installed some new clips on my pedals for Christmas. WOOHOO - First bike ride of the year!

As the guys were helping me get clipped in for the first time Breanna said "Does Mom know how to ride a two wheeler?" We all burst out laughing. Seven year olds are hilarious!

Luckily we bundled up so it wasn't too terribly cold. I biffed it twice before I got the hang of my new shoes. Have you ever had your feet stuck in your pedals and fallen over sideways?! Needless to say, it was pretty funny. Almost like watching cartoons - I'm sure! My knee got pretty banged up and my wrist is sore but after the first five minutes I was getting the hang of the new pedals and locking in and out. All of this practice and experimenting plus the strong wind made the ride to the elk pretty slow! Poor Garrett! Having to wait for your parents does not make for a fun ride!

While we were out riding, Luke & Kelsey and the kids were getting some cute photos taken out in the yard. Jessica was their photographer! I scrapped one of my favorite photos.

Transformation In Progress...

2010 was a great year!!! In January 2010 I set a goal to lose 52 pounds. I said to myself, "You have 52 weeks in this year. How hard could it be to lose a pound a week? Well it was harder than I thought but (woohoo!) I lost 45 pounds!!! I got within 7 pounds of my goal. Not bad!

Then I went to Hawaii over the Thanksgiving break Then add in a month of Christmas craziness and I was already up 10 of the 45 pounds I had lost. Oh well, I was still down 35 pounds on December 31st. That is 35 more pounds than I would have lost if I hadn't set any goals, so I was pretty happy!

Enter January 2011. I was feeling sick from all the holiday goodies. I seriously had a stomach ache the last two weeks of December because I ate so much junk. I was ready for a change.

I sat down to write some goals. I had been following Cathy Zielske's blog and she has inspired me to do her Move More, Eat Less Challenge. Why not? I want to lose another 40 pounds this year! I want to stay regular with my exercise, so I am also setting a goal to exercise (for at least 30 minutes) 300 times in 2011.

So with those two goals in mind, I went to the gym this morning at 5 a.m. I was on workout # 5 for the year and I had already lost 5 pounds since Monday (it always comes off fast the first week.) I saw a poster in my Gold's Gym that advertised a "Body Transformation Challenge." It seemed like good motivation to me so this afternoon I put on a two piece swimsuit (scary), had photos taken and signed up.

With all that said, it looks as if I am going to be making a twelve week transformation! I am in the 40-49 age category. There is a $500 prize. It ends April 1st. WATCH ME WIN!!!

With the two challenges and my two goals - "How can I lose?!!!"
Or should I say "not lose" (weight & body fat!)

Here's my first layout for the Move More, Eat Less Challenge (I created this page on the fourth so my journaling doesn't mention the Gold's Gym challenge. I will write about that in next month's update.) Look at that gut - hopefully it's the first thing to go!

It's so nice to have a little breather. I always love the week between Christmas and New Year.

I had some extra time this morning to scrap. HERE is the creation I came up with. I have not been posting any of my new pages and I decided that everything I create should be posted. It totally helps me keep track and I love looking back over layouts!

I created this for a challenge HERE. I always love challenges because they inspire me to create a layout that I wouldn't ever come up with on my own.

I can't believe that Brett and I have been married for twenty six years! It sounds like such a long time but really it has flown by.

In the salon today I got a special delivery - the most gorgeous flowers you have ever seen!

BUG

I got up early this morning and went for a 30 min bike ride. The sun was shining and I was enjoying the warmth on my face. Gorgeous morning - gorgeous ride!!!

Then, out of the blue, a bug flies up my nose. I choked and sputtered and coughed. I almost crashed my bike. How do you get a bug out of your nose/throat quickly? This was my dilemma! I've never had this happen before. I'm embarassed to say that my first reaction was a
farmer's blow

BUT IT WORKED!!!

As I sit here and type, I still feel as if little pieces of the bug are up my nose.

SO

We went to Raging Waters for Jessica's Birthday. Garrett made this compilation of our fun day.

Here is my "Party Til You Prune" layout.

Journaling - It has been a tradition in our family to go to Raging Waters each year for Jessica’s birthday. This year was no exception. Garrett decided that he would ride his bike there. Of course, we were concerned that he wouldn’t make it in good time but he actuallly rode the fourteen miles and arrived at the park at the same time as we did. (We had to stop at the store to pick up chicken and goodies for lunch.) We had a good laugh when we all arrived at the same time. Kelsey looked fabulous. She was wearing her cute little bikini. Jessica looked better than ever! She has lost so much weight this year. We invited Joy’s kids and we all had a blast cruising the lazy river and laughing our heads off in the wave pool. It was so nice to be together as a family. We vowed to do it more often this year. July 2010

School is out. The atmosphere in our house is much more relaxed.

The kids have been sleeping in.

One lazy morning last week I was scrapping and in walks Jacob. We started to work on a layout about him. He guided me every step of the way - from the journaling, to the ribbon on his name, to the brads in the three corners.

My Mother's Day Post is About Ryan!

My son Ryan is a senior! He will be graduating soon. I am blown away! How did that happen so fast? He skipped a grade in elementary school, so he just celebrated his seventeenth birthday. He had the best birthday ever because he got to play basketball with the guys!

Journaling: Ryan’s birthday was on a Wednesday this year which turned out super-cool because he was able to play basketball that night with his team. The guys surprised him with balloons for his special day.

Scrapping Easter with Quick Pages

Journaling reads: How do you stay clean on Easter Sunday 2010 when there is so much delicious chocolate around. With Brynn, we never quite figured it out. Love those gooey fingers and face.

This is my youngest daughter, Breanna. Journaling reads: Every time the camera comes out you “strike a pose.” You seem to tilt your head to one side or another. We all chuckle when the model in you appears.

We visited Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. We got to know each other again. I am so lucky to be married to “My Best Friend.”

I just completed this page for THIS CHALLENGE at My Digital Stash.
I know Kelsey won't like the picture I used but I specifically remember thinking how cute she looked in her scrubs. I wanted to capture that memory!

Journal - It was the first time I saw you in your scrubs. You look so cute in that light blue color with your long sleeve shirt underneath. You are a serious student as can be seen in this photo of you studying at the computer. I am so proud of you. You will be a nurse in no time!!!

I just bought a template from Designer Digitals that totally inspired me to scrap. Here's what I came up with this morning

Journaling - You didn’t want to let me do your hair for Easter Sunday. You wanted to make sure you rode with Dad to church and he was leaving. I quickly grabbed the blowdryer and your little white headband. You held still for two minutes while I round brushed and styled. You looked so cute that we had to spend the next two minutes taking a pic!

Journaling - You get excited whenever someone has a birthday. You love to think about what you want to give them. You are so happy to wrap everything up or put it in a gift bag. You like to make cards with your little name printed inside. You were more excited for Charles Luke’s third birthday presents than he was. The night before his birthday you insisted that we get started on the wrapping. You wanted to make sure things were perfect. You were very involved when he started unwrapping. You would have thought it was your birthday.

I have been looking over my March folder and I cannot believe how much I scrapped.

It all started with THIS CHALLENGE at Design House Digitals which I not only completed

BUT

March 8th through March 26th I scrapped and posted 31 incredible layouts in my DHD gallery HERE

Here are some of my favorites

1 - Challenges are great. They help you scrap layouts that you wouldn't otherwise think of doing.

2 - Sometimes a limited number of products helps a scrapper be more productive. See a Daily Digi post on this idea HERE

3 - Taxes and Housework do not get done when you are scrapping an average of 1.4 layouts a day - LOL!!!

When I heard this funny story - I knew I had to scrap it

Charles Luke is almost three years old. He says the cutest things.

On Jacob’s birthday we celebrated at Brad and Melody’s house. It was time to go home and Charles wanted to stay. He got a little grouchy.

In an attempt to cheer Charles up, Garrett took him outside.

Garrett looked upward at the night sky. He said to Charles, “look at all the stars!” Charles’ eyes lit up immediately. The two of them counted the stars together. Garrett tried to help Charles count. Charles would say “one...” and wait for Garrett to finish counting for him.

Charles’ mood was improving.

As they looked around in the night sky they saw the lights of an airplane. Garrett said, “that’s not a star, is it Charles?” Charles responded and said, “that’s an ai-wo-plane.”

They continued studying the night sky together. The moon hadn’t come up yet. Garrett, in an attempt to outsmart the wisdom of an almost three-year old, asked, “Where’s the moon, Charles?” Charles looked around for only a moment before responding in his cute little kid voice “At my house?”

Garrett burst out laughing.

Brett does most of the cooking in our house. I am so lucky to have a guy who loves to cook! I got a craving for German Chocolate Cake. I still like to make something once in a while(mmmmm - sweets.) Nerds

Journaling: We now have two engineers in the house. Brett is a chemical engineer. Garrett is a civil engineer. Have you ever noticed that engineers are a different breed. They definitely look at the world in a special way. They can be very analytical and they seem to remember everything. Before I married an engineer, when someone spoke of one, I always pictured a nerd with a protractor. I like this quote from Scott Adams “Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own. Just kidding guys! We love our nerds!!! Will Braden be a Future Engineer/Nerd?

Beautiful Utah
