I love my husband!!!

I was watching this and I realized how different men and women are. It makes me love and appreciate my husband more. Maybe it will help you.

I am loving this song!!!

It's by Jukebox The Ghost and it's called "Good Day." Of course this is the live version, so it's not quite as great as the original. If you want to hear the recorded version, go here and click on Good Day in the upper right hand corner. In this video, they are jammin' for the first 42 seconds so make sure you listen past that point.

I think that I would like to invite everyone I’ve known, dead and alive, to a street where we can be totally free.
And they will come in droves, wearing their hearts on their sleeves,
but oh, how good it felt to have them worn just like they should.

And everybody here wants to know:
Did everybody say what a good day that it was?
For everybody who said what a good day that it was,
did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?
Wha-oh-ah-oh…

Suddenly we all got young, running circles round ourselves just for fun.
And oh how good it felt to be young, in love, and feel it in our bones…

And everybody here wants to know:
D-i-id everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?
Wha-oh, did everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?
Wha-oh-ah-oh…

We go there when we’re in trouble.. We got old and old age made us humble.. You and I are alone…
That it felt like this, we were never told,
that it felt like this, we were never told,
and it scares us bad so we’ll have to be bold..

There’s still one thing we need to know…
Did everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?

Wha-oh did everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?

Wha-oh did everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?

Wha-oh did everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, diddidididid they smile cuz they liked it, did they?

Wha-oh did everybody say what a good day that it was? For everybody who said what a good day that it was, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they smile cuz they liked it, did they?
Wha-oh-ah-oh
wha-oh-ah-oh.

First Page Scrapped From Hawaii Trip

We went to Hawaii January 23rd through February 1st. I was waiting to get everyone's photos before I started scrapping the trip. It looks like I only have Joy's photos, but I got the itch to start, so here is my first page:

Journaling reads: It was our first excursion in Hawaii. We were in Oahu. Shem got us up at 5:00 am and we were the second car waiting for the gate to open at six. We didn’t go down to the beach right away because it was dark and windy. We watched the sun rise and then went snorkeling. We thought the water would be colder but it wasn’t bad at all.

Guess what we did last night!

Celine finally made it to Salt Lake last night (she canceled her original show in November). She played the Energy Solutions arena. She was absolutely incredible. Brett and I took Kelsey and Jessica. We had a fantastic time. This was my favorite song of the night.

"River Deep, Mountain High"

When I was a little girl
I had a rag doll
Only doll I've ever owned
Now I love you just the way I loved that rag doll
But only now my love has grown

And it gets stronger, in every way
And it gets deeper, let me say
And it gets higher, day by day

And do I love you my oh my
Yeh river deep mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

When you were a young boy
Did you have a puppy
That always followed you around
Well I'm gonna be as faithful as that puppy
No I'll never let you down

Cause it grows stronger, like a river flows
And it gets bigger baby, and heaven knows
And it gets sweeter baby, as it grows

And do I love you my oh my
Yeh river deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

I love you baby like a flower loves the spring
And I love you baby just like Tina loves to sing
And I love you baby like a school boy loves his pet
And I love you baby, river deep mountain high
Oh yeah you've gotta believe me
River Deep, Mountain High

Do I love you my oh my, oh baby
River deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

Reading Along

Today on "The One Minute Writer" I saw this prompt: "Write about a childhood memory related to reading." It reminded me of an experience that I had in first grade. I was an avid reader. There never seemed to be enough hours in a day to get in all the reading I wanted to do. The library was one of my favorite places. I had to walk home from school every day. I thought it would make better use of this walking time if I could just read those library books while I was trudging along. (Even in first grade, I was thinking of ways to multi-task.) I was reading a particularly interesting book one day as I was walking, when all of the sudden, I ran into a huge dog. The dog was as big as me and roaming the streets with no owner. My heart was thumping as I waited for the attack. (I was afraid of dogs since my grandmother's "Snoopy" bit me.) Luckily, the dog was friendly and seemed to be as sorry as I was that he hadn't been paying attention either. I'll never forget the racing heart followed by that moment of relief. Needless to say, I stopped reading as I walked home each day and payed more attention to what was around me.

Family

Valentine's Day Dinner

The Jenkins Family has our annual Valentine's Day dinner at a different house every year. We have given up on eating out on February 14th because it is always too crowded and we hate to wait for hours for our meal. It also saves a ton of money!!! Here's my fun pages that I made from the cute pics I took!

Beauty

Karen sent me this story:

A Violinist in the Metro

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats average $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of an social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

Try not to miss the beauty of life coming your way.

Yeah, we're home. Brett and I had a great time. We got back from Hawaii on Monday morning at 7:30. We took the red-eye. I don't recommend flying overnight. It definitely did not agree with me.
