Review of the Zoo

I just finished some 24x12 pages from our trip to the zoo.

I used Eva Kipler's Alpha from her "Soaring High" kit.

The font is Attic.

The Animal element strip is from this Design Star Round One Kit at Scrap Matters.

The template is from Yin(Template 100).

The paper is two blended together from this kit also at the Scrap Matters site. You must be logged in to view the freebies on ScrapMatters.com

Happy Saturday

It's Saturday morning. It's near 7 a.m. on my computer clock. I see a little light coming through the window. Our apricot trees have bloomed, but I don't know if we will have any fruit because the day after the bloom, we had a big storm. It has been pretty cold ever since. I miss apricots. We haven't had too many the last few years because they bloom too early and then freeze.

My Aunt Marjorie is bringing her grandson over today while she goes to "Phantom of the Opera" at Hale Center Theater. Unfortunately, I will be at work in the salon while he visits. I predict that the boys will have a great time together.

That's it for now! It's going to be a Beautiful Day!!!

Feeling Inspired

This is cool!!!

Just what I needed.

Feeling a little down this morning. I started going through my "Google Reader." I have an addiction to blog reading. I've given up my morning paper and instead I just read blogs. I came across this song and it put an instant smile on my face. Just what I needed. Enjoy!

Happy 2nd Birthday!!!

This is my sweet grandson Charles who is having a birthday today. We partied at the zoo for his birthday on Saturday! This picture was taken then.

Charles,
I thought you might enjoy this video:

Lucky Catch

I woke up unexpectedly in the middle of the night. I didn't want to bother Brett, so I went out of our room. As I was walking past the boys room, I got Jacob up and took him to the bathroom. He is a very sound sleeper and sometimes does not wake up in the night. Charles never wakes up when I do this, but today this sweet kid

moaned and told me he felt like he was going to throw up. My heart started to race. There is nothing I hate to clean up more than vomit! I ran around the room looking for something to hold the spew. I grabbed his little garbage can and made it under his mouth just in time. WHEW! Lucky Catch!!!

Needless to say, his stomach was still feeling upset this morning and when I told Charles that there would be no computer or TV if he didn't go to school-he still chose to stay home(this is when you know that a kid is truly sick).

Breanna said her stomach was hurting too, so they are both riding the "No School" train today. Here's hoping I won't be needing that garbage for another "Lucky Catch."

AN IRISH TALE

Flynn staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy.. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Mary.

He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.

Managing not to yell, Flynn sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.

He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.

In the morning, Flynn woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Mary staring at him from across the room.

She said, 'You were drunk again last night weren't you?'

Flynn said, 'Why would you say such a mean thing?'

'Well,' Mary said, 'it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly......it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.

Thanks Karen!!!

Daily Dose of Digital 2009

At Christmas, Brett gave me $50 to spend on scrapbooking stuff. It was a blast to use!!! One of the things I bought was an e-book called "Daily Dose of Digital 2009" I haven't done many of the challenges, but since it was snowing outside(which made me feel like staying in), I wanted to create a page. March 9th's Challenge was to use a mask.

Scrapping again!

I had a lot of fun doing this page. It is made with Eva's Kit found here. The font is Nueva Std. I also used a template from here

Here's a little larger view of each page.

Yes, I was eating a peanut butter sandwich when Breanna (five years old) snapped that pic.

Everything's amazing, nobody's happy

Brett sent me the link to this video. I am old enough to remember rotary phones - How about you? Want a laugh? Watch this comedian!!!

Beautiful Morning

I woke up to a brightness that shocked me. I jumped out of bed thinking that I was running late and realized that the ground outside was covered with snow. That is why the bedroom was so bright. I love spring snow because by the afternoon it is all melted away. What a gorgeous, bright morning. I didn't even have to turn the lights on. I opened the blinds and felt instantly good! Hope your morning was just as fantastic as mine. Have a great day!

March 1st - Scrapping Day!

I woke up this morning with the worst headache. Brett brought me some ibuprofen and I took that. I begged him to track down some of Janiel's secret remedy, (she told me to take a heaping spoonful if I felt like I was getting sick). I feel much better now.

I have spent the afternoon resting and scrapping. I finished up a page that I have had in my "in progress" folder for a long time!

Here's the completed page:

Every year, in August, my Dad's family goes up to Lava for our family reunion. My kids look forward to this get-together for months! We swim in the outdoor pool and soak in the hot pots on Thursday - our first night in town. We tube the river and hike up to the "L" on Friday. Saturday is our pinata day. We head home Saturday night. Our reunion always ends too soon!!!
